Ms. Nirala Bard, LPC, LCADC, ACS, BC-TMH, is a clinical psychotherapist with more than 19 years of experience in providing mental health services to adults, children and families.
A champion for the rights of those with mental illness, Ms. Nirala Bard has also served as the Director of New Jersey Mental Health Services for a few non–profit organizations, Hospital settings – ER, DETOX, Inpatient, IOP, outpatient services and has also worked with the Superior Courts of NJ advocating for the needs of children, adolescents young adults and families in crisis.
Ms. Bard received her MA in Counselor Education from Siena Heights University. She has the distinction of being recognized for delivering exemplary mental health services by the Bergen County Executive, Mayor Wayne Smith of Irvington, and former Governor of N,J Richard J. Codey.
The main psychotherapeutic models she uses are Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and systemic therapy. She has particular interests in working with clients with eating disorders who deliberately self-harm or who experience recurrent depression and anxiety. She specializes in treating people with mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, grief and loss, relationship and interpersonal difficulties, sexuality and gender concerns, substance abuse and addiction. In addition to direct patient care, she offers consultation and case management advice and clinical supervision to colleagues with LAC.
